This mug is made of white stoneware, thrown on the wheel and then flipped over and a foot trimmed. Then a hand-pulled handle is attached and the whole mug slowly dries to a leather hard consistency.
Black, blue and yellow underglaze are inlayed into a line drawing. The drawing is "drawn" with carving tools of different types. After the underglaze color is smeared into the carvings, then the outside is scraped with a tool to reveal the white clay around the line.
