Beyond Sight

Beyond Sight
Clay became a channel for sound and touch. A looping audio track of cicadas and bicycles on gravel played through a small speaker embedded within the base of each sculpture. The forms amplified and redirected sound through funnel-like elements and resonant cavities, inviting viewers to experience clay beyond vision alone. The work explored memory through physical sensation, challenging assumptions of clay as heavy, dense, or opaque, and instead revealing it as porous, responsive, and quietly immersive.

Structural Findings

Structural Findings began as an exploration of what might happen if clay were used to make three-dimensional drawings. As repeated forms were joined, the material began to behave like architectural elements—bridging gaps, shrinking pieces together, and cracking along points of tension. These behaviors shifted the work from planned construction toward a collaboration shaped by material limits and unexpected connections, allowing heavy, opaque clay to transform into airy, gravity-defying structures.
